A series of flood primary hit Queensland in December 2010 and in beginning of January three quarters of Queensland declared a disaster zone including the capital city Brisbane. It was particularly areas along Fitzroy and Burnett Rivers there were hard hit. Around Toowoomba was an unexpected flash flood, which devastating Lockyer Valley.
The flood in Queensland 2010 – 2011 ended up with killing 35 people.
The Cyclone Yasi, is one of the most powerful cyclones on record, hit hundreds kilometres of coastline in northern Queensland the early hours the 3 February 2011. The Cyclone passed directly over Willis Island and made landfall between Mission Beach and Tully, the Cyclone destroyed almost everything on its way.
Because of the flood and cyclone there hit Queensland hard in the beginning of 2011, there can be some differences between how the areas look now compared to when we have wrote about the areas. The rebuilding process started as soon as it was safe to enter the areas and the communities doing the best to get back to normal
